A friend, also someone I admired, started an immersive indigenous language school in Hualian, Taiwan a few years ago hoping to save the endangered language and culture. Started from nothing, the school were able to build a classroom last year. This year, they are raising money to publish all-indigenous language text books. Many friends around me are very well off. I thought if I can get some of them to help, it will be a big boast for the schools’ funding. I set out to write a Facebook post. Thought it would only took 5 minutes to write, turns out it took me over an hour to get the post right. I shared the post with lots of hope. Two days later I received twenty six likes from my friends. However, looking at the number of sponsors on the fund raising page, I think none of my friend donated since the number didn’t change. It’s unfortunate, but I’m still glad I tried

On a Saturday afternoon, my phone rang. It’s a call from my senior neighbor. “Hi, I want to use my camera to take pictures, but somehow it takes multiple pictures, maybe my setting is wrong. Do you know how to fix it?” Not able to see the camera, it’s difficult to understand the problem and fix the issue. I said: “Let me come over to take a look”. “But we’ll be leaving in 15 minutes”, “I’ll be there in 5 minutes” I said. I went to the neighbor’s house. He is on his wheel chair holding his Olympus E-M1 camera. “Some how it takes multiple pictures with different exposures”. Camera’s Mode dial is correct on the Auto, but the screen shows it’s operating in Art Bracket mode. I remembered my Olympus had the similar problem, I turned the mode dial a few times and it’s back to normal. I told the neighbor it’s a common problem with the Olympus as it ages. Just turn the mode dial a few times and the problem can be fixed. I’m glad that I came by to fix the problem for them quickly, and they were not late to attend their event.

After the rain in the morning, the earthworms crawled out of the mud, but they couldn’t crawl back after being stepped on by passers-by. I picked up the 2 injured earthworms I encountered and sent them back to the garden.

Volunteered to help a school prepare to launch a competition. I hope to download “Dedication of Merit” so that I can formally transfer merit for any small acts/thoughts of kindness. Grateful for this project.
