Act of Kindness Stories zh

  • Transfer good roots

When I’ve been practiced Buddha Dharma deeper and deeper recently, I really want to change myself to be a good person with reducing my greedy, hatred and stupidity. I vow to be Buddha’s disciple every life and practice sincerely as much as I can to save any beings related to me specially my kindness parents. I really want to have wisdom to guide people to believe in Buddhism and end birth and death.

  • Too many and never enough

-Friend request to get this material and hoping to be ‘enlighten’ by new translation on ‘Song of enlightenment’. I can read Chinese and found this tune suit me too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IEekHBbTuI&t=887s. Friend can’t read/ understand much Chinese. -Friend ask to buy stuff and deliver to my house on his behalf -Temple ask to do Zoom … -… I don’t like to list because I never felt enough and never ask for it. When time come, just do what you can. -View from the social media are generally bad, friend shared fb view and I wish many know that such influence is polluting the mind if one does not has constant dharma…

  • Wear a mask

We wear masks as soon as we step outside from our house. We step aside to have at least six feet away if we see other people. We avoid gatherings… sorry for missing to be present at the gatherings starting back in February of 2020. Wishing that this world will be peaceful soon!

  • Wake-up

There is this thing about death that many Asian Chinese not only deem a taboo topic, but even avoid thinking, more so talking about. So, the poor dead are often treated with fear. Even a dead close kin becomes an object to be feared, although when alive he or she was the most adorable. Laughable perhaps, but true. I am often called upon to help the next-of-kins administer to the ‘needs of the occasion’. Usually, that means to chant prayers, but on a few occasionans I have to share knowledge on how to administer to the mortal remains of the deceased, according to religious procedures; at times, hands-on. I try…

  • untitled

An act of kindness (aka connection, appreciation, sharing, …) comes from times of openness and weakened boundaries At such times all interactions are acts of kindness, appreciation, love. These times can only occur when there is no sense of rushing or urgency. Unusual in our society. I have recently put together a collection of mp3 vocal songs, and have shared this with 2 people. One told me that she would never take that collection from her car CD player. The other (a couple), who were reluctant to listen to or accept it, called to thank me for it – telling me they were surprised how profound an effect it had…

  • Write a treasure hunting game for youngsters

Last weekend, we organized a small camp for a group of 40 young Buddhists who aged between 6 to 18. I used my software programming skills to create a simple online Treasure Hunting Game for them. The topic of the game is finding the 3 most valuable Treasures in the World. The games lasted for 3 hours. They went around a Buddhist Temple and searched for QR Code, answered questions about Buddhist Dharma, tried to overcome challenges of memorize the Sutra, Buddhist songs. There were 6 stations and at the last station, a team gave me the correct answer: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. I am very happy that my simple…

  • Transferring merit to national leader

After reciting the Earth Store Sutra, I transferred the merit to the elected leader of our country, President Trump, that he might have the wisdom and compassion to lead our nation well.Although, a tiny drop in the water, I felt moistness in the air on that hot, dry mid-summer day.

  • When in doubt go for it

I was on facebook and read about a family whose two year old son had to be medically flown to a hospital about three hours away for major problems, kidney shutdown and pneumonia. This was going to force the family to shut down their family owned store/ deli so that the father could be with his little one. I have never run a store before and come from a completely different line of work but I knew this man needed to be with his family and the business needed to stay open. To make a long story short, I ran the store, learned to make a mean sandwich and met…

  • When Bad Things Happen to Good People-the whole story

Last December I heard of a woman with a brain tumor and no family in a nursing home. My co-worker was going to take her to a concert, but the home wouldn’t let her leave. I thought it was unfair and decided to bring the concert to her. I took my kid and his friend to visit her last Christmas and sing to her. We decided to start going every month after that. Then, another kid joined us. Then we added a nursing home. Then we added another kid. Now I have 4 kids who go to two nursing homes every month for going on one year now. They play…
