A Life of Service inspired me to sell my car and simplify my possessions according with the seasons. It is now wintry, one fleece lined pant for moving about, another one for sleep. Securing my only possessions onto an old mountain bicycle which enables me to ride up the mountain or down into town, sometimes in circles. My food sack consists of salad in a bag and lets not forget, assorted nuts and fruits for the grounded and flying friendly neighbors on my path. At times the food load can be cumbersome and a tid bit heavy for my aging bones but I shake off the self serving thought and ride on back up the mountain. One day, I noticed a family of birds moved into the neighborhood in search of food. The mother, the leader, would sit on the highest rock directing her children while they walked about seeking out any morsel of highland grains. I prepare my bike, and ride down the mountain to a neighborhood market. I park my bike next to a metal garbage can, walked into the store and noticed the cudest stuffed snow man with two twigs for arms welcoming me with open arms. My heart giggled at the yarn snow man. Just then, a woman approached me with confusion in her eyes retorted to me, ‘While sitting in my car, I watched you ride up with a huge smile on your face and you havent stopped smiling since!’ Thinking smiling is not the norm, ‘I am so greatful for everything I have!’ was my reply. She managed to break a small smile and nodded as she departed. I then asked myself the same question, ‘Why am I smiling so joyously? I only have this one pair of fleece lined pants i have been wearing everyday that is in need of a cleaning.

Normally I would leave for work by 6:45 am. However, I have a colleague who requires a ride, since her car is in the shop. She is unable to leave as early, so I told her we could leave at 7 am, instead. I offered to bring her to the shop where her car is located, but she won’t accept that:(.

I meet shelter-less, car-less people who live wherever they find a small space. I noticed so many of all ages live this lifestyle. The one thing that is troubling is they have no transportation like a simple bicycle in which they so much desire and need.

A few evenings ago, as i was riding my bike up the hill towards the great mountain canyon to dwell for the night. I came upon meeting a young man with his head held low but eyes up gazing at me. What i noticed was his beautiful smile and humility. He was pulling a small wagon that held all his possesions down the from the mountain. I realized how much he needed a bicycle and i wanted so much to gift him mine. If i had done that then how will I carry my own load and this body up the hill each night to dwell? Thats when i came up with a blog called, Dignibakbikes.blogspot.com I then went and bought an american flag and jumbo markers. I wrote on the flag asking people to donate a bike to help give dignity back to those who need it most. It could help people get jobs by having transportation. It could help to reduce bike theft. I plan on flying this flag and see what happens next.

We helped set up the chairs, tents and banner for Celebrating Elder’s Day last weekend.

Some of us volunteers also installed 480 plants over the weekend as well as a part of CTTB’s new retention pond/sewage system. Only 3500 plants left to go!

Very hard work, but worth every bead of sweat! 🙂

Today, my mother and I helped the Buddhist temple washed some dishes, which were piling up. My mother was happy that we helped.

It’s just a normal deed. I like the songs in Dharma Radio. So I’m just posting it to download the songs. Thanks.
