I attended a Da Bei Zhou retreat at SBF and managed to get seats in the front rows with chairs that had backrests.

As the hall filled with more people, there were not enough chairs with backrests, and some seniors had to sit on stools.

My friend and I offered to exchange our seats with them so they could be more comfortable. They were very appreciative and were able to participate in the retreat happily.

I try to enact the bodhisattva discipline as much as I can- that said l, one that sticks out to me is when I was on my way home from work recently and had stopped at Taco Bell for a little snack. I saw a man who I assumed to be without shelter and food security standing on the corner underneath a bridge. When i came to a stop, I couldn’t help but give him the burrito I had bought. He was thankful and I wished him freedom.

I’m not very good at talking about my good deeds haha. Hope this will suffice!

It was raining heavily the other day. I was waiting at the bus stop holding an umbrella. After a moment, a woman came and waited beside me. Since there was no shelter and she didn’t have an umbrella, I greeted her and shared the umbrella with her while waiting for the bus.

Collected winter coats, hoodies and jackets for a shelter and also coordinated a neighborhood food drive to donate nonperishable goods to the soup kitchen where I volunteer every Saturday. When I was walking back to my car after work one evening, a homeless women was on the sidewalk and I asked if she’d like an apple. I didn’t have anything else to offer her, but I always have an apple in the car to have as a snack after a long day. It was late and I had to get home for music practice, but I told her I will go to my car and bring it for her. I had to go for many blocks before I reached my car, and then I ran back to her to give her the apple and she was so surprised that I came back to her with it. She was very happy and so was I to see her enjoying the apple. It made me very glad to give something I was short on (time) and to be able to talk with her and make her feel that somebody cared.
