I was bowing to the Stupa at GCDR early Sunday morning when I noticed a bee 🐝 laying in shadows on her side on the Stupa . When I picked her up and noticed a very small vibration of her antennae. As it was cold and she was wet from the dew I carried her in my closed hand for five minutes as I went to set up the mornings Chan meditation in the Blessing Hall. She soon recovered and sat on my hand in the sun for a bit before she flew away.

This morning I passed by a fishing pond that you can pay for fishing. The was a fish catched by a person and put in a plastic bag alive. Fish was struggling in the plastic bag making noisy sound. It was horrible to me. I recite amitabha, I was hesitated to help the fish, I feel bad. I wonder if I can just buy the fish and free it. I recite amitabha and give the credit to the fish. I hope the fish reborn in pureland and won’t suffer again. I doubt on my hesitate action, please give me more bravery to do good deeds.

Every month first Sunday, a bunch of us come together, make some drink (lemonade, chai) or cook some food (sandwiches) and branch out on the streets to converse with passers by. We chat over the snack/drink and find out more about each other. Earlier this month, we saw two homeless rag pickers on the footpath and approached them if they would like a sandwich. They were happy to take two each 🙂 We chatted with them, got to know their names, their families, how they got there on the streets, and where they sleep. They even recommended that we offer a sandwich to their fellow rag picker lady who was mute (“she cant tell you she needs a sandwich, but do offer it, she will take it”). It was nice to recognize our human to human bonds and witness their wild smiles.
