  • Sound of Music for elders

I enjoying playing violin and have been playing with HP Orchestra for years, the rehearsal is once a week. Earlier this year, a neighbor comes to me that she organized a small music group in the church. The group will visit nursing homes and play music for elders. We’ll play some hymn, and some other folk or easy music. The rehearsal will be in the church once a week. I had a rule trying not to be away from my family for more then one night a week. I need to decide which music group to participate between HP Orchestra and this church group. Partly because I like the small…

  • Freeing the Rat

A rat was found in the bin by some children at the school i work at. They crowded around and the poor little rat was cowering with it’s little heart racing. I took the bin (with the rat) to the school ‘bush’ area and recited some medicine buddha mantras and released it.Hopefully this beautiful little creature will make a connection with the Dharma in another life.

  • asking for the music as an act of kindness for myself

I realize I’ll never get this CD the way things are going, how critical I am with myself, so I’ll extend some kindness to myself at this point. In my mind, there couldn’t possibly be a act of kindness if I’m doing with the intention to receive DM Sure’s music. The intention behind kind act is already tainted. Last Sunday as I was driving on the freeway, a car had smoke coming exhuming, so I wave the car down, and then stopped to help out, when the driver is waiting for the spouse to come, and I realize I don’t know enough about automobiles to do anything, I drove away,…

  • caring for the elderly

I recently placed my name as a volunteer at a local nursing home.I will be reading books to elderly people who no longer have the capacity to read to themselves.I have chosen this action because I want to be the best person that I can be and I think that it will bring happiness to the elderly people who sometimes feel that they don’t have a lot to look forward to in their lives.I love to read inspirational stories too!

  • Crossing over, bit by bit

Amitabha. Facing certain issues with my father regarding my future plans within the Buddhadarma, I began to bow to my father, although not on a regular basis. It has worked on mnay levels, such as him realising my sincerity as well as in removing certain obstacles that were present in his mind! Truly wonderful. This is my own experience with how virtous conduct (note: I am not meaning that I am virtous :)) may move people.Amitabha.

  • Walking the Dog

This morning as I lay in bed in the warmth, I thought about how cold it was outside and how nice it would be to stay there in the comfort, sleeping in. However the thought of my poor dog locked up outside in the frost , far colder than me, promted me to get out of bed, rug up and take her for a walk. I am not sure whether my act of kindness did me more good or her.
