将此身心奉尘刹

Been raised in a “Buddhist-like” – by that, I mean those who believe in Buddhism without knowing what Buddhist teachings and practices are – Chinese family, I had many times of going to temples with my family and performing bowing and praying. While most Chinese like my Grandma and Mom are praying before Buddha’s statue for their own benefits and good look to their family, I never did the same. Instead, I always prayed for World’s Peace and happiness of all sentient beings and I found inner harmony and deep delight while doing so. Now, I read about “No Pursuit of Self-Benefit” and that is what guided me before and I will take this guideline further and help as many people as I can in the future. One example is I found recently that so many Chinese international students abroad, US and Australia in particular, are under depression and I’ve been encouraging them to think positively and don’t be too harsh on themselves. I know my ability is limited at the moment but I wish I can one day commit myself into practicing great compassion like Bodhisattva.
